Unfinished Wilderness

Jason Heroux's Unfinished Wilderness continues his ever-morphing journey into the far reaches of a gentle surrealism and the deeply human. At times melancholy and darkly slapstick, these poems explore the growing struggle to feel at home in a world where global concepts of shelter and belonging remain scarce. And yet, in these inhospitable landscapes and mindsets, the poems and sequences here-sometimes dense and sometimes spare-also celebrate an upsurge of resistance against the already-gone, a pleading for the "real" to announce itself and offer sustenance, solace, even beauty. "Grey parachute of smoke, I hope / your blown-out match lands safe," writes Heroux.
