The Tao of the World

A Restoration comedy for modern times. After isolating during a global pandemic, Singapore’s wealthy elite make up for lost time, meddling in each other’s personal lives, sabotaging engagements, and bedding other people’s partners. But behind all the scheming and romantic cloak-and-dagger is another struggle over inheritance and financial power as the characters position themselves around a dynastic fortune. And behind that, a whole supporting structure of unseen labour that makes all the scheming – and the unscrupulous luxury – possible. Set within a crazy-rich world of extravagant parties and resorts, The Tao of the World pointedly asks what it means for things to “return to normal.”
